428 bovine animals rescued, 6 smugglers held

UDHAMPUR: In a major success, Udhampur Police foiled three attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 428 numbers of cattle, which were taken on foot by the smugglers towards Kashmir.

These groups were intercepted at Jakhani Chowk, Sangoor Chowk and Mian Bagh area, under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station.

All 428 bovine animals in total were rescued and the smugglers namely Masom Ali son of Fareed of Manohar Gopala Samba, Irahad Ahmed son of Muskeen Ali of Rakh Badoi, Samba, Saleem son of Haji Kasa of Manohar Gopala, Samba, Bittu son of Yousuf of Rakh Badoi, Samba, Hasam Din son of Ahmed Ullah of Nanak Chak Samba and Din Mohd son of Saif of Manga Chak, Samba, were arrested on the spot.

In this connection, cases have been registered at PS Udhampur under relevant section of law and further investigation is going on. The groups were intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur, Vijay Singh Choudhary.
