JAMMU: Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness and smiles never decrease by being shared. While we may be rejoicing with friends and family at yet another Diwali party this festive season, there are millions of children who are not even certain of their next meal.
Underprivileged children hardly get an opportunity to enjoy festivities as they have to work to support their families and lose their childhood in oblivion. The festival symbolizing triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and new beginnings, is celebrated with lit diyas, or oil lamps, devotion and hope.
This Diwali as usual , People’s Hut Foundation, an organisation tried to bring light to the less fortunate ones, organized a special programme for the underprivileged children, who were invited to enjoy and celebrate the festival, like any other child at Balgran Orphanage, Jammu.
“As Diwali signifies the festival of lights, through this little initiative “Khushiyon ki Diwali Sab Ki” we intended to bring light into the lives of these children and provide them a platform where they can enjoy to on their tender shoulders”, said Ritu Koul , Director and Chief Operating Officer at People’s Hut Foundation.
