JAMMU: A mega plantation drive has been undertaken in Ward No. 33, Shakti Nagar by Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta under “Clean and Green Jammu” initiative of JMC to enhance the green cover to protect the environment of the city.
The plantation drive was started from AG office in presence of XEn (Div. III), Ashwani Kumar, AEE (Tpt.), Harvinder Singh, AEE and JE (Div. III) of JMC and officers/officials of Horticulture Section and Health Section.
The drive was started on July 20 from Panjtirthi Jammu with the initiative of Commissioner, JMC Avny Lavasa, under the overall supervision of Secretary, JMC, Tinna Mahajan.
Mayor started the plantation drive by planting various medicinal, flowering and ornamental plants at AG Office, Shiv Nagar area of Shakti Nagar.
The basic idea of plantation drive is to restore and noticeably increase green cover in the city over next few years besides involving of the citizens of Jammu in this “Clean & Green Jammu” initiative.
Mayor appealed to all the citizens of Jammu City to come forward and actively participate in the “Clean & Green Jammu” drive to make the drive a great success.
