9 more die of COVID in J&K, toll reaches 426

JAMMU: The COVID-19 death toll in Jammu and Kashmir reached 426 on Wednesday with nine more people – eight from the Valley and one from Jammu – losing the fight against the deadly virus.

The UT also reported 559 new cases – 96 from Jammu and 463 from Kashmir – in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 22,955 – 17,755 in Kashmir and 5,200 in Jammu region.

Also, 388 patients – 91 from Jammu division and 297 from Kashmir – have recovered from the infection and discharged from various hospitals across the UT in the last 24 hours.

As per the official bulletin issued on Wednesday evening, out of the total 22,955 cases, 7,285 are active cases, while 15,244 have been cured of the infection and 426 people – 31 in Jammu division and 395 in Kashmir – have succumbed to the virus
