PATNA: In Bihar, a two member team of the Election Commission reached Patna today on a two day visit to review the preparedness for the upcoming Assembly Elections.
Assembly election in Bihar is due in October-November as the tenure of the current Assembly is scheduled to end on November 29. The team which includes Deputy Election Commissioners Sudeep Jain and Chandrabhushan Kumar, held review meeting at Muzaffarpur, with concerned officials of 17 districts including Darbhanga, Madhubani and Sitamarhi.
The team also held a review meeting in Patna with the DMs and SPs of seven districts including Nalanda, Bhojpur and Buxar.
The Election Commission team discussed the prevailing flood and Covid situation in the state and directed the concerned officials to take all preventive measures to contain the pandemic during the election process. The team also stressed the need to make people aware of the precautions to be taken during campaigning and casting their votes.
Tomorrow the team will hold a review meeting at Bhagalpur and Bodhgaya. Before returning to Delhi the Election Commission team will meet Chief Secretary and other senior officials in Patna.
