JAMMU: Jammu region on Saturday reported 52 new cases including 16 in Jammu City and outskirts which included five doctors and two para-medical staff members, five of them posted in GMC Jammu and one each at Khour and Bishnah hospitals, seven Army soldiers and a police constable of IRP while 15 patients recovered and were discharged from various COVID Hospitals, nine of them from the Chest Diseases Hospital, Bakshi Nagar.
16 fresh Corona positive cases were reported in Jammu City and outskirts late on Saturday.
They include three doctors, a Technician and Nurse posted in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. The positive GMC doctors are 43-year-old female from Channi Himmat, 40-year-old male from Nagrota and 25-year-old female from Sainik Colony.
A 28-year old female doctor of Lower Roop Nagar posted at Khour hospital in Akhnoor tehsil also tested positive for the virus. A doctor posted in Bishnah hospital has also tested positive. Their contact tracing is on.
Other positives in Jammu City and outskirts included 24-year-old youth from Kunjwani, 25-year-old youth from Trikuta Nagar, two youth from Narwal, 48-year-old man from Jain Bazaar, 30-year-old from Shakti Nagar, 27-year-old female from Channi Himmat, 21-year-old from Shastri Nagar, 30-year-old woman from Jagti, Nagrota, 28-year-old youth from Sunjwan and a middle-aged man from Bohri, Talab Tillo.
Six more Army soldiers tested positive for Coronavirus including five in Udhampur and one in Samba district.
Of five jawans tested positive in Udhampur, two each had returned from Rajasthan and New Delhi and one from Haryana after availing leave. They were posted in Udhampur and were under quarantine at Army formations. They were aged between 21 and 45 years.
Udhampur district, however, reported only one Corona positive case of a civilian, who is an ex-serviceman, aged 42, hailing from village Badola in Jib Thathi and had returned from New Delhi where he was working as Security Guard. He was under administrative quarantine and has been shifted to COVID Hospital.
Another Army jawan, a 34-year-old hailing from village Kamala in Vijaypur area of Samba district who was posted in Arunachal Pradesh and had returned home on leave by air, tested positive for COVID.
Three other persons have also tested positive for the virus in Samba include a 31-year-old youth from Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, who was putting up at Sangwali, 59-year-old man from Bainglard and 40-year-old woman from Bari Brahamna.
Eleven persons were tested positive for Coronavirus in Kathua district.
They hailed from Kathua, Basohli and Bani. All of them were under administrative quarantine after their return from different parts of the country. They have been admitted in COVID hospitals.
In Poonch district, four persons have tested positive for Coronavirus including a female student of Noona Bandi, who had returned from Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Three other positives included a 32-year-old youth from Mohra Bachai in Surankote, a 27-year-old youth from Marha and 21-year-old youth from Mehrote. They had travel history of New Delhi, Mumbai and Poonch respectively and were under administrative quarantine.
In Ramban district also, four persons tested positive, three from Ramban and another from Banihal.
Five persons were tested positive for the virus in Rajouri district. They include two from Manjakote, one each from Nowshera and Taryath and one an outside labourer working in the district. All of them have been hospitalized.
Two persons including an Army soldier and an Indian Reserve Police (IRP) jawan tested positive in Reasi and one in Doda district.
Fifteen persons were discharged from various COVID Hospitals after treatment including nine from the Chest Diseases Hospital.
According to official figures, Jammu region now has 852 Corona patients including 656 active cases. There have been 191 recoveries and five deaths.
