J&K: Security forces have killed Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naiku in an encounter with militants in Begpura in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces were reported to have hidden the Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo in Begpura. The security forces then laid siege to the area. The security forces were a big success in this encounter that lasted for hours.
Riyaz Ahmed Naiku was the most wanted terrorist of the valley. It took command since the death of Sabzar Bhatt in the encounter. Joined Hizb in December 2012 and became the head of the organization in just five years. He majored in technology. After a terrorist joined the funeral, he publicly spoke of supporting Pakistan.
Naiku began appearing on the radar of security agencies after the death of poster boy Burhan Wani in 2016. He had a reward of 12 lakh rupees on his head. A resident of Naiku locality of Durbag in Avantipura, Naiku used to fall under the A ++ category of desirable terrorists of the valley.
He assumed the post of Hizbul Mujahideen chief after the death of Sabzar Bhat in the valley. Nayaku was considered the commander of Hizbul throughout the valley. Security agencies had surrounded him many times before, but each time he managed to escape somehow.
Naiku released a video saying that he would welcome the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley and claimed that terrorists are not enemies of the Pandits. Nayaku’s two close-knit Altaf Kachru and Saddam Peddar have already been shelved long ago.
Nayaku is believed to have resurrected the gun salute, which the terrorists gave upon the death of their commander. During the funeral of the dead terrorists, he was seen firing in the air and paying tribute to them. Security officials believe that due to his image, he had succeeded in joining many of the youth of South Kashmir in the terrorist group.
In January 2018, Hizbul commander Riyaz Naiku of southern Kashmir threatened to carry out acid attacks on those contesting panchayat elections. Security agencies were alerted after the threatening video went viral on social media.
In the 12:34 minute video, Sameer Tiger could be heard asking the Hizbul commander for directions regarding the panchayat election. In the video, Riyaz Naiku had said that acid attacks should be carried out on the participants in the upcoming panchayat elections.
He had said that he would not shoot people who took part in the election, but would give such a punishment that they feel wrong. Only those who take part in elections are a burden on the family members. If they were shot, they would get a job under the SRO and also financial help. Because of this, such punishment has to be given so that they can realize their mistake.
