Jammu: NSS unit of Government College of Education organized a series of events on account of the Gandhi Jayanti celebration from 29th September to 1st October 2021 to solemnize Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
To commemorate the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Swacchta Abhiyan was observed on 29th September in the college premises. Rangoli Competition and Cultural Performances were also observed on 30th September and 1st October by giving tribute to the birth anniversary of Gandhi Jayanti.
The celebrations for Gandhi Jayanti started welcoming all the teachers and students explained the significance of the day. They gave a brief on various facets of Gandhiji’s life. The speech also mentioned Gandhiji’s freedom struggle and various sacrifices made by him for the country.
Speaking on the Occasion, Dr. Kulvinder Kour (Principal of GCOE) said that nowadays it is very important to uplift the values and ideas of Gandhi among all the students as well as teachers.Â
Prof. Neelam Dhar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Prof. K. K. Mangotra, Dr. Shushma Bala, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Prof. Shapia Shameem Bhatti, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Seema Kumari, Prof. Vinay Lata, Prof. Anuradha Choudhary were also present at the event.Â
Various students participated in the event by adhering to all the safety and social distancing parameters in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The program was adroitly conducted by Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, NSS Programme Officer along with NSS volunteers.
