PM Modi discusses second economic stimulus package with FM Sitharaman, Home Minister Amit Shah

INDIA: Modi government has extended the lockdown in India till May 17 and issued fresh guidelines to regulate different activities during the period. 2,293 fresh Covid-19 infected cases were reported in the country in the last 24 hours along with 71 deaths.

Forty one people living in a building in southwest Delhi’s Kapashera area today were tested positive for coronavirus. A case of COVID-19 had been reported from the building situated in theke wali gali on April 18, officials were quoted by PTI. In an important development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a series of meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and officials of economic ministries to prepare the second stimulus package for sectors affected by lockdown.

The total number of cases in India has crossed the 37,336-mark with 1,218 deaths reported so far. Around 9,950 people have recovered until now.

All the domestic and international air travel, running of trains, metro and inter-state buses for public transport, except those permitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), will be prohibited during lockdown 3.0.
