Still smashed, bootlegger arrested

REASI: Police arrested a bootlegger, who was running a still and preparing hooch at his residence in Bakkal, under the jurisdiction of Reasi Police Station.

On an information was received at Police Post Jyotipuram that one person namely Mohan Singh alias Chittu, son of Charan Dass of Bakkal, Tehsil Bhomag, was indulging in the business of manufacturing and selling of illicit liquor (hooch) at Bakkal.

On this, a police party from PP Jyotipuram, led by Inspr Ravi Kumar (I/C PP Jyotipuram) conducted a raid and found that the accused was preparing hooch near his house at Bakkal.

The bootlegger was caught on the spot alongwith 5 litres of hooch. 10 litres of lahan was also recovered and destroyed on the spot while still, apparatus, pipes etc were seized.

In this regard, a case FIR number 45/2020, under section 48(b)(d) (e) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi.

The overall operation was conducted by SHO Reasi, Inspr Vijay Kumar Thakur, under the supervision of ASP Reasi Surjeet Kumar Bhagat.
